Back in the year of 2018, the Avocado industry was about to enter a new strike as a consequence of the low prices in the fields. This problem worried the Grower families a lot, people formed by a culture of hard work that for generations has worked with passion to produce the best Avocado in Mexico and the world; the Michoacan Avocado.
One of those families was that of Humberto Solórzano, a young third-generation Grower. Humberto saw how this crisis hurt his people; So, taking advantage of his knowledge as an accountant and financier, he began working day and night on the idea that would change things forever.
Humberto thought of a digital platform that would make information transparent, and in order to make it a reality, he convinced his family and his friend, the Engineer Gustavo Muñoz, to carry it out, that is how AvoPrice was born in the year 2018.
It wasn’t easy, because, in addition to risking their livelihood, the Solórzano family also had to face opposition from those who didn’t want Growers to know the price of the product at the orchard. But despite the obstacles, Humberto continued to reveal data, convinced that, just as the water that irrigates the fields makes them produce, the torrent of digital information that AvoPrice provides would make the avocado business flourish.
Once the first stage of the project matured, the AvoPrice team went to the next level: the construction of a digital bridge, which connects Mexican Exporters with US Importers, and allows them to do business in the simplest, most reliable and safe way.
Today the digital platform that a young Avocado Grower dreamed of years ago is a reality, but Humberto's real dream wasn’t the platform, but the benefits that it would bring to families living in the Avocado industry, such as better prices for Growers; more business opportunities for Exporters, and the elimination of risks for Exporters and Importers.
